Shelyce Jiranek is a female visual artist based in Brisbane, Australia. 
Raised in South-East QLD, Shelyce spent most of her early years living near the water in bayside Redlands City, and her connection with the water, nature and family shows through her fluid, emotional work.

“Preserve”

This is my first self portrait, painted 32 years after the photo was taken. Me, at two weeks old, being bathed by my Dad. This piece was about preserving a moment in time in paint and in spirit. I spent time with the painting, brush to canvas and also periods of reflection, in between paint layers, where I let my mind and feelings interact with the work, letting that guide the direction.
